This new project from the teenage sisters Melati and Isabel Wijsen (authors of the Bye-Bye Plastic Bags project in Bali) is called YOUTHTOPIA.
Its main objective is to train a generation of young leaders who can make a real difference in the battle against climate change.
Melati and Isabel Wijsen entered the field of environmental regulation early.
Their project Bye-Bye Plastic has achieved huge success: single-use plastic was banned on Bali.
However, shortly after Melati (who was only 15 years old at that time) started to realize that there was still room for improvement.
Four years later, in her speech at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in January 2023, Melati pointed out that it is urgent to reform the education system.
She believes that outdated educational systems cannot keep up with the dynamics of development in today’s world, and this problem can only be solved by the younger generation.
YOUTHTOPIA is there to help — it will conduct training, and hopefully become a global headquarters for all young changemakers.
Through the online platform where workshops are held, Melati and Isabel hope to empower young people all over the world to find something they can do to protect the earth.
Melati and Isabel are part of the international new environment movement.
They are dedicated to giving people a more beautiful tomorrow.
YOUTHTOPIA is to teach young people leadership skills and techniques in presentation.
They do their part in the revolutionary change.
The girls constantly remind people to “challenge to the comfort of the status quo” as soon as possible.
